Practical information

Where?

The sessions take place at one of the ULB campuses in Brussels. We can often come to your office or we can reserve a room on the Solbosch campus.

When?

The sessions usually start at the beginning of the academic year and are set up to suit your timetable. We try to be as flexible as possible to ensure that we can support you when you most need it, but also that we fit in with the multiple demands on your time.

How do I apply?

Fill in the registration form and a member of the team will get back to you to arrange a first meeting.

Signing up for the TEA Project means you can access a whole variety of services.

≡  An English placement test:  We will do an initial assessment in order to identify your level and to make a detailed plan on what you need in terms of language support.

A ‘kick-off’ meeting: to assess your needs and determine your objectives.

Classroom observations: with pedagogical and linguistic feedback.

A personalised package of language and methodology lessons which usually comprises of between 10 and 30 hours per academic year, depending on your needs. The package falls into two broad themes:

A. One-to-one or small-group language lessons: we work on areas such as: oral fluency and pronunciation; revision of slides, hand-outs, exam questions and ‘fiches de cours’; academic writing and structured practice for lesson delivery.

B. Individual guidance to help redesign your course and lessons: we work on course preparation, course delivery and assessment. We will also explore interactive teaching techniques and adapting them to your teaching objectives as well as understanding student needs and communicating effective strategies for learning in English.

We also offer:

Seminars during the year devoted to the sharing of teaching practice and the exchange of points of view with colleagues from across the university who are also teaching in English. The seminars also enable you to explore new methodologies and to develop your language skills.

Online modules with videos available to prepare and/or consolidate the competencies developed during the lessons.
